These three benefits are those that for the moment I have been able to observe with my toddler. But there really are many benefits to obtain from this creative activity.

3 benefits of finger painting activities for toddlers

  • Finger painting improves fine motor development: the development of fine motor skills is important at this age. And this activity helps a lot with those skills. We should not worry if children paint themselves with paint. That’s part of the activity, but let them explore and use their fingers to create.
  • Finger painting great to learn colors: This is the first activity that I use to introduce the primary colors to my toddler. It was fascinating for him, it was something new and it caught his attention a lot. He quickly learned to identify colors.
  • Finger painting helps to stimulate creativity: We can stimulate creativity in our children in many ways. And this is one of them. Children explore, touch, make shapes, lines, mix colors, among other things.

In your home you can create your own paints to use, it’s better! – But if you are looking for alternatives for finger paints, here I show you the one that I use with my toddler.
